Mastopexy with prostheses

What is it?

Also known as augmentation mastopexy, it is a surgery that combines a breast lift and aesthetic repositioning of the areola, through the removal of excess skin and remodeling of the breast tissues, with an additional increase in volume and projection through the use of breast implants, giving more volume to the upper pole and décolleté, redefining its contour in a more attractive way.

It is indicated when a woman wants both a breast lift and more volume, improving the appearance, contour and projection of the upper pole and décolleté. This is a common request from women who are dissatisfied with the appearance, sagging and loss of volume of their breasts over time, often as a result of:
  • Pregnancy
  • Breastfeeding
  • Weight variations
  • Age
  • Heredity
It is indicated for women who want to improve the appearance, volume and projection of the breast, but feel that mastopexy, without the additional inclusion of implants, will not result in the idealized volume and projection. Candidates for mastopexy with implants should
  • Being Healthy
  • Non-smokers
  • Have expectations appropriate to your body situation and intrinsic conditions, such as the elasticity and laxity of the skin, as well as the type and location of the resulting scars.

Mastopexy is performed through incisions that vary in location and extent, through which the skin is removed, with superior repositioning of the areola-mamillary complex and the breast tissue is remodeled and supported, enhancing the ideal projection and volume through the placement of breast implants.

During the breast reshaping process, volume asymmetry and the size of the areolas are also corrected, if necessary.

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia, often with a laryngeal mask, a milder type of general anesthesia, which allows post-operative recovery to be quicker and better tolerated.

The location and extent of the scars depends on each case, depending on the degree of sagging and loss of elasticity, as well as the amount of breast tissue available for remodeling.

In very mild mastopexies, the surgery can be performed through an incision limited to the periareolar area, but usually also involves a vertical incision, below the areola, and a horizontal incision may also be necessary (resulting in an inverted T-shaped scar), camouflaged in the lower breast crease, the extent of which depends on the amount of excess skin to be removed.

The results of mastopexy surgery with implants are immediately visible, as the volume increases and the aesthetic appearance of the breasts and décolleté improves. In the following weeks, there is an improvement in the associated edema, as well as an attenuation of the scars, with a very favorable result in terms of self-image.

The benefits are felt at various levels, including :

Favorable impact on their self-image and body harmony, with increased self-esteem and self-confidence in social interaction.
